The Classics with Wick

This week-end we reach the high point of the flat season with the Oaks on Friday and the
Derby on Saturday. The possibility of softer ground is causing some trainers to rethink before
committing their horses. The odds-on favourite Authorized will not be troubled by the going, and
his price could be 6-4 or shorter by the off.The second favourite Aqaleem around 7-1 or 8-1 and
has done a good final work out maybe a good each way bet.Although the Frankie factor is attracting a lot of money for Authorized, his mount in the Oaks on Friday,Measured Tempo, is
around 7-1.In the Coronation Cup he rides hot favourite Sixties Icon, here Maraahel at 7-1 is a
good each way bet. Next week we have Royal Ascot with plenty of good prices, and winners, if you can find them. More about that later.

Chester gold cup and Cheshire oaks racing.

The Chester May meeting starts Wednesday featureing the Chester Gold Cup and the
Cheshire Oaks.
The gold cup is one of premier log distance races and is a guide to races at Royal Ascot and
Goodwood later in the summer.
The unique course at Chester makes previous experience on this tight track invaluable. in races
upto 7 furlongs a low draw important. In the Chester Cup the anti-post favourite GAIENT has
to overcome a bad draw, stall 17.although in a race of 21/2 miles and the experienced Phillp
Robinson on board he could still be there at the end. Last years winner ADMIRAL again has a
good draw in stall 4 and would be a good EW bet.In the Cheshire Oaks the draw could play a
bigger part and All My Loving drawn 1, Kayah drawn 3 and Light Shift must be in shake up.
